Before you begin

God's Master Plan is the central theme of the Bible. Eight lessons on what that plan is, how God will bring it about, and what it asks of anyone who wants a part in it.

The course asks you to check what the Bible says rather than take anybody's word for it, including ours. Every passage is set out so you can look it up as you go, so you will want a Bible beside you.

Questions appear through each lesson so you can test what you have understood, and every answer is explained, whether you get it right or not. Nothing is timed and nothing is marked. Work at whatever pace suits you, and pick up where you left off. If a lesson raises a question, there is a tutor who will answer it.

What you need

  • A Bible, in any translation you are comfortable with
  • Between ten and forty minutes for each lesson
  • Somewhere quiet enough to read properly

References through the course are from the New International Version unless otherwise stated.

The course

All eight lessons are ready, with the introduction and the conclusion.

Introduction What the course covers, how it is put together, and why the plan is worth eight lessons of anybody's time. About 10 minutes Lesson 1. What is God's Master Plan? Why the earth was formed, what the glory of the LORD means, and where people come into it. About 15 minutes Lesson 2. How will God's Master Plan be realised? The promises to Abraham and David, the king, the land and the people, and a kingdom on this earth. About 25 minutes Lesson 3. Why do we need God's Master Plan? What a soul is, what death is, and the one reason the plan matters to you personally. About 20 minutes Lesson 4. What stops us from participating in God's Master Plan? Where sin comes from, what the Bible means by the devil, and why we are our own worst enemies. About 20 minutes Lesson 5. Who is the key to the Master Plan? The promised seed, why a sacrifice was needed, and what the life and death of Jesus Christ achieved. About 40 minutes Lesson 6. Who is the Master Planner? What God has revealed about himself, what his name means, and what the Holy Spirit is. About 30 minutes Lesson 7. How can we participate in the Master Plan? Belief, repentance and baptism, and what each of the three actually asks of a person. About 25 minutes Lesson 8. How should citizens of the Master Plan live? Faith, love, grace and the ordinary conduct expected of anyone who has taken the plan on. About 40 minutes Conclusion The eight lessons in one place, and the one question the course leaves with you. About 10 minutes

Your place in each lesson is remembered, so you can stop at any time and pick up where you left off.

Any question, at any point

You do not have to finish a lesson, or the course, before asking something. If a passage does not make sense, or an answer raises more questions than it settles, that is worth a conversation.
